Why organosilicon electrolytes?

Organosilicon electrolytes have a number of important properties that make them especially attractive for emerging energy storage applications:

High conductivity When doped with suitable salts, organosilicon compounds can show high conductivity, >2 mS/cm. We have also developed silicon-based ionic liquids that can be used alone or in conjunction with other organosilicon compounds.
Low viscosity Organosilicon compounds have low viscosity, similar to that of water. This makes is simple to wet even high-porosity materials.
Low vapor pressure Organsilicon compounds have low vapor pressure.
Low flammability One of the biggest advantages of our organosilicon compounds is their very low flammability.
Low toxicity

Organosilicon compounds have low toxicity.
